My Twitter Espresso Experience

Two weeks ago my espresso machine died - without warning. Not up to date regarding espresso machines I was confronted with an exhausting product comparison marathon. But - why not use Twitter? I wrote about my little social recommendation experiment here.

Now I want to to complete the description of this experiment with more qualitative results. First, this is how my new Saeco Aroma, the Gastroback coffee mill, the beans, milled at medium grade, and the final espresso look like: 

  

  

 

  












The espresso itself has a nice crema - as you can see - it comes at a very good temperature, and with a beautiful taste. 

Next thing to do is to compare different espresso beans in combination with different milling grades.

Investment Conditions

So here are my conditions for an investment in your start-up:

It can be an existing business or a start up.

It can not be a business that generates any revenue from advertising. Why ? Because I want this to be a business where you sell something and get paid for it. That's the only way to get and stay profitable in such a short period of time.

It MUST BE CASH FLOW BREAK EVEN within 60 days

It must be profitable within 90 days.

Funding will be on a monthly basis. If you dont make your numbers, the funding stops

You must demonstrate as part of your plan that you sell your product or service for more than what it costs you to produce, fully encumbered

Everyone must work. The organization is completely flat. There are no employees reporting to managers. There is the founder/owners and everyone else

You must post your business plan here, or you can post it on slideshare.com , scribd.com or google docs, all completely public for anyone to see and/or download

I make no promises that if your business is profitable, that I will invest more money. Once you get the initial funding you are on your own

I will make no promises that I will be available to offer help. If I want to , I will. If not, I wont.

If you do get money, it goes into a bank that I specify, and I have the ability to watch the funds flow and the opportunity to require that I cosign any outflows.

In your business plan , make sure to specify how much equity I will receive or how I will get a return on my money.

Stammtischparolen, Demokratie und Gesetze

Am Stammtisch sitzen und auf die Verhältnisse schimpfen - das können wir alle gut. Die Gesetze, beispielsweise, die werden ja von Leuten gemacht, die nun wirklich keine Ahnung haben. Erstens sind sie so kompliziert, dass wir Bürger sie nicht verstehen, zweitens die meisten Juristen ebensowenig und drittens müssten sie eh ganz anders formuliert werden.

Ach ja? Wie denn? Was haben wir an Gesetzestexten auszusetzen? Wie würden wir sie ändern, wenn wir nur könnten? Dieser Frage wollen wir nachgehen, indem wir ein kleines Wiki gebaut haben, auf dem jeder seine Vorschläge zur Änderung von Gesetzestexten eintragen kann - das Gesetzwiki.

Gerade haben wir die allererste Stufe fertiggestellt und laden ein zum geschlossenen Alphatest des Wikis. Wen das Thema interessiert und wer mitmachen und das Gesetzwiki testen will, kann dies hier in den Kommentaren hinterlassen oder mir eine mail schicken.

Wir haben uns entschieden, den Passwortschutz zu entfernen und Gesetzwiki direkt vom Start für alle zu öffnen. Über Feedback würden wir uns sehr freuen!

I Learned Today (deutsch)

Da ich einige mails auf mein gestriges Posting bekommen habe, schreibe ich hier nochmals auf deutsch, was die Idee hinter I Learned Today ist und wie das Ganze funktioniert.

I Learned Today - Die Idee
Jeder von uns lernt beinahe täglich irgendetwas Neues (Learnings) oder hat eine neue Idee. Wie wäre es nun, all diese Ideen an einem zentralen Punkt zu sammeln und alle (anderen) an den Ideen teilhaben zu lassen? Gut geeignet für das Vorhaben ist Twitter. Hier kann man mit 140 Zeichen Nachrichten hinterlassen, die wiederum entweder alle anderen Twitter-Nutzer oder nur ausgewählte Twitter-Nutzern lesen können.

Wie kann ich mitmachen?
1. Voraussetzung ist ein eigener Twitter-Account, den man sich in einfach in einem Schritt besorgen kann.






2. Jetzt folge (followe) ich dem Twitter-Account von I Learned Today, indem ich darauf klicke und den Button "follow" anklicke. Damit empfange ich alle tweets (das sind die Twitter-Nachrichten) von I Learned Today (ILT). Keine Angt, ILT selbst twittert nur sehr selten: das followen ist lediglich die Voraussetzung für das Mitmachen beim Sammeln der Learnings.

3. Jetzt schreibe in Deinem Twitter-Account das, was Du heute gelernt hast, oder welche Idee Du heute hattest. Am Ende des Textes fügst Du noch " #ilt " (ohne die Anführungszeichen) hinzu. Dieser sogenannte hashtag sorgt dafür, dass Dein tweet auf der Website ILT.me erscheint.

4. Fertig. Du machst ab jetzt bei I Learned Today mit, kannst Deine Learnings über Twitter auf ILT.me posten und dort viele neue gelernte Dinge und Ideen aller anderen lesen.

I Learned Today

Over this wonderful, relaxing weekend I had the idea of a site full of new ideas and learnings. Imagine everyone who learns something during the day tweets it on twitter, adds the hashtag #ilt and contributes to an aggregation of fantastic new ideas and everyday learnings!

Not being a developer (not even able to develop twitter bots) I had to help myself and find a workaround to implement that idea. Ok - registered a new twitter account ILT (I Learned Today) and the matching URL.

Now - if anyone of you is interested to contribute to that small project - feel free to (open a twitter account,) follow ILT and add your daily learnings followed by the hashtag #ilt. All your tweets will then be aggregated on ilt.me. Would love to read your tweets!
